Hadley Mountain fire tower: check the distance basis
Hadley is a useful example of why a guide should show uncertainty. The manager and tower committee give different distance figures, so this page does not pretend the discrepancy is settled.

DEC 1.4-mile trail versus committee 3.6-mile return; comparison distance left unset. Full-route ascent not verified. Summit elevation is not elevation gain.

Start here
Use Tower Road access on the current DEC map.
Terrain & what to see
A steep mountain approach with eroded sections described by the manager. Allow time for careful descent.
A fire tower objective; check structure access separately from the trail.
Before hiking
Consult the current map and committee information. Base timing on your group’s pace and selected start rather than copying a single total from another itinerary. Confirm restrictions before travelling.
Landscape & trail notes
DEC lists a 1.4-mile trail; the tower committee describes a 3.6-mile round trip. Those figures do not reconcile by doubling, so full-route distance remains unverified.
After the hike
Keep the original track if you record the visit and note where recording began. A personal GPS total documents that outing without becoming an official measurement for every visitor.
