A canal corridor behind a modern hiking day

1800s · 1898

The Delaware & Hudson Canal was built in the 1820s and abandoned in 1898. Its locks belonged to a much larger transport system than a quiet remnant might suggest. Use Wurtsboro as a starting area for exploring the canal story, then consult official access information for a specific stop. Imagine the landscape as a working corridor rather than scenery alone. Saving this discovery can begin a future outing; it does not record a visit.
