Balsam Lake Fire Tower: January on the Mountain

Plan around this outing

Balsam Lake Mountain is more useful to plan as a complete outing than as a tower name on a list. HBTrails' January 2024 video gives this stop its own place in the family's hiking archive. Pair the film with the official planning source and keep your chosen approach in the trip notes.

Keep the route and the memory together

Two people can log the same tower after taking different routes. When you share your visit, include the trailhead, direction and whether your mileage includes a return on the same path. Keep those choices separate from the organizer's tower-completion requirements.

The match uses the published title and verified HBTrails channel metadata. It is not a turn-by-turn route, a verified full-section completion or a current condition report. Publication date may differ from the date of the hike.

Make your next visit useful to the next hiker

Record the route you actually walked, the date and a specific observation: a muddy stretch, a turnaround or a clearly identified viewpoint. Explain what changed your plan. Add your own photos to the destination record and keep precise condition reports attached to the place you observed them.
